Finally, the soul whispered;
“You know nothing, and you know everything.”

As a poet and humanitarian writer, K.S.D’arcy uses her talent to bring comfort, inspiration and hope. Comfort not only to children but parents, grandparents, teachers, caregivers, and anyone who resonates with her beautiful work.
K.S.D’arcy’s most profound passion as a writer is her humanitarian pieces. “I am inspired daily by the world around me as we search for better ways to make this earth a kinder and more loving place for us all. Whether through the awareness of wildlife conservation or the betterment of self, self-love, and self-empowerment,” she says.
As a poet, much of her writing flows at a rhythmic pace adding a unique flavour that keeps her award-winning books interesting and playful whilst delivering profound messages.
“I don’t have the power to change the world, but I have the magic to inspire the heart of the child who will.”
– K.S.D’arcy
Growing up wild and free on the sandy shores of Western Australia, K.S.D’arcy has always had a fond love for writing and poetry.
“I have always loved to write. I use this natural-born talent to channel the emotions and energy around me, to touch, communicate, inspire, and breathe life into simple yet delicately chosen words.”
Born in July 1986, K.S.D’arcy, the youngest of five children, spent her childhood swimming with dolphins and running amidst the Great OutBack. K.S.D’arcy and her identical twin brothers could be found building forts in the bush, wrestling a snake or two, and dodging the crabs that nipped at their ankles whilst fishing in the estuary. Summer nights always ended, drifting off to sleep under the stars in the hand-made cubby house crafted from bed sheets.
Their home, built by her father in the early 80s, was a unique two-story masterpiece. The home was an engineering feat, constructed with four two-story concrete tilter panels. As the story goes, every engineer and builder in the vicinity rejected her father’s plans to build a two-story tilter panel home. Never one to turn down a challenge or let others’ limitations stop him, K.S.D’arcys father not only succeeded but rewrote the guide book on concrete tilter panels.
“The most dangerous phrase in our language is, ‘we’ve always done it this way.”
– Grace Hopper.
Her father and mother, both incredibly strong, resilient people, taught her from a young age to never allow others’ limitations of what is possible to stop her. She never let her dreams be limited by the lack of means, connections, qualifications or social status. Just as they did, she has created a life that often defies what is possible according to others.
She boldly mentions many hurdles in her publishing career, saying, “I knew I would one day find a way to become a published author, but my path would probably look different to those who have come before me.”
At the beginning of her publishing journey, she did not tick the boxes for many mainstream publishing companies. Her success would require strength, patience and unwavering determination, skills she had in bucket loads.
Her most profound writing mentor turned out to be Beatrix Potter. Her struggle and determination to become a respected, published children’s author gave K.S.D’arcy much hope and courage. Just like Beatrix Potter, she recognised that to succeed, she would need to be her own greatest supporter. She would do it her way, even if that required creating a new way of writing and publishing children’s books.
These lessons of strength, self-love, determination, and resilience are the magic she now accompanies within every page of her writing and children’s books. The same message she has spent her entire life living by;
“Those that dare to dream and wish upon a star, are the ones who shall be gifted, the ones who shall go far.”
